Hello!
I'm looking forward to seeing so many amazing colleagues at tomorrow's CEU event. Please come prepared to share your own experiences and insights about social justice advocacy.
For those of you attending in-person, here is a link to an interactive Boise State University campus map in case you need help locating the building. The original announcement had the incorrect room number. We will be in the Interactive Learning Center Room 203.
We are not offering any discounted parking for this event. You can park for free in Julia Davis park near the zoo and walk over the Friendship bridge to campus - or you can pay to park in the Brady garage, which is close to the Interactive Learning Center building.
The Zoom link and joining information is included below for those who plan to attend virtually:

Workshop/Training Description & Objectives
“One of the primary factors distinguishing social work from psychology, psychiatry, and the other mental health professions is its commitment to social justice.”
— Allan Edward Barsky
How does social justice show up in clinical social work? What ethical obligations do clinical social workers have to engage in social & political action? What gets in the way? In this interactive workshop, we will discuss these questions and more.
At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
Describe how the socio-political environment impacts the well-being of clients they serve.
Summarize the call to social & political action for social workers found in the NASW Code of Ethics.
Generate examples of social & political action to advocate for people “who are vulnerable, oppressed, and living in poverty”.
Identify barriers to social & political action and strategies for addressing them.
TWO CEUs will be available for those who complete this training, including ONE HOUR OF ETHICS.
